CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing

The technique of cosmetic skin resurfacing with the CO2 laser is very effective to reduce wrinkles without scalpels or stitches. Instead, Dr. Burger guides a laser beam over the wrinkled skin. This removes the outer layers and the healing process results in a firmer, smoother appearance.

Patients are treated with the CO2 laser right in the doctor's office. Dr. Burger offers this process to be done under local anesthetic and the patient may return to work immediately or in the next few days. The treated area will be red for some time after the treatment and the doctor will provide directions on how to care for the area as it heals. Steps may include application of ointment, avoidance of sunlight, and other appropriate measures. Additional follow-up visits allow the doctor to monitor progress. A reduction in wrinkles is usually immediately noticeable.
