Sinus Grafting This is an x-ray showing the maxillary sinus. The maxillary sinus is a hollow space above the back teeth in the upper jaw. The x-ray shows very little bone in this area because the patient had lost teeth resulting in bone resorption. A bone graft is necessary to provide adequate quantity and quality of bone to place implants for the future teeth.
