3D Imaging

Cone Beam 3-D CT Imaging

Dr. Burger uses the latest imaging technology available.  By using cone beam computerized tomography (CT), Dr. Burger is able to obtain the most complete information on the anatomy of a patient's mouth, face, and jaw areas.  By producing these three-dimensional views of all oral and maxillofacial structures, one is able to provide patients with the most accurate treatment planning and predictable outcomes for surgical procedures.

The use of the i-CAT cone beam 3-D imaging system makes in-office, three dimensional imaging quicker, easier and more cost effective with less radiation to the patient than traditional CT scans (view picture of i-CAT).

The i-CAT cone beam 3-D imaging is especially useful for placing dental implants.  Conventional radiographs are not able to visualize the exact width and height of bone available prior to implant placement.  CT scan images are also useful to determine the exact height of available bone in the lower jaw to prevent injury to the inferior alveolar nerve.  The inferior alveolar nerve provides sensation to the lower teeth, lower lip and chin region of your face (view pictures of conventional radiographs vs i-CAT images).  3-D imaging is also useful to locate exact position of impacted wisdom teeth, supernumerary teeth, impacted cuspids for orthodontic exposure and bony pathology like cysts and tumors.
